Wayfinder: Gloom!

As Lead I get the opportunity to contribute to every character on a project, be it through management, feedback, paint-overs, implementation, polish, mentoring and yes the occasional bit of art :)

One way that I really enjoy contributing is through blockout and VisDev. By making blockouts, it helps free up the rest of the team to focus on execution. I can quickly work out things like scale, proportion and general style. Additionally, I can quickly get the asset into the game and passed to animation to start building rigs and animating.

Here I pulled together a couple examples of the Gloom Characters in Wayfinder. These guys were a lot of fun to make. I admit I get a little carried away with building clean topology in my blockouts as I like for them to also double as the lowest Sub-D level for the sculpts.

Both of these Blockouts (and the VisDev sculpt) were passed to outsource artists to take to completion.
